History

For hundreds of years, power in Scotland lay in the hands of great families or "Clans" tied by blood, tradition or name. The Campbell Clan rose from the remote Highlands to become the greatest of all Clans. Its great courage and solidarity has shaped the history of Scotland since the 13th Century. Today over 14 million people can claim kinship with Clan Campbell.

Recent archaeological digs in Castle Carrick, a Campbell Castle dating from the 14th Century, uncovered the oldest piece of whisky distilling equipment ever found in Scotland - "the Worm". The distilling worm, part of the still used to condense the alcohol vapor, dates from around 1640 and is now on display in the Edinburgh Museum.

Elaboration

Scotch whiskies are made of natural ingredients: pure spring water, barley and yeast. Clan Campbell is a quality blend of the finest malt and selected grain whiskies - the heart of the blend is constructed around a mix of top quality Speyside malts. A small amount of Highland and Islay malts are used to provide body and character.

During the production process, the Master blender balances malt and grain whiskies from different regions, of different ages, and oversees the maturing in different woods to achieve the unique Clan Campbell character. He is also involved at all key points of the whisky making process, from testing the newly distilled spirits and checking whisky casks for flavour and maturity, to the final quality check of the bottled whisky.

To make the prestigious Clan Campbell Legendary 18 Year old, the whisky is aged for a minimum of 18 years.

The range also includes Clan Campbell Pure Malt, a careful selection of Scotland's finest malts that are matured for a minimum of 8 years before being married together in oak casks, resulting in a well-balanced whisky.
